Roman marble votive right foot wearing sandle

Description

A carved marble foot, complete as made, depicting a right foot with sandal straps crossing the instep and individually modeled toes, its weathered granular surface consistent with long burial or age; such carved feet were dedicated at healing and pilgrimage sanctuaries —notably those of Asclepius, Serapis, and Isis — either in thanks for a safe journey or as an anatomical votive marking a body part healed through divine intervention.
