The concentric circles that adorn this vessel’s base are simple yet powerful, a fitting design on such an ancient piece. This large light brown Cypro-Phoenician Bichrome has a smooth, flared neck that is ringed halfway up. The small handle shows this vessel would have been delicately held in order to protect its cool liquid, while the base is large enough to hold a significant drink.
This vessel is at some estimates 3000 years old, dating from approximately 1200 B.C.E.– 586 B.C.E.. Its shape is at once generic yet individually crafted to superb effect. It is 24 cm from base to mouth and remains in excellent condition.
