The term Base Ring Ware comes from the vessel’s ring-shaped base, usually added after the body was completed. Ware bowls were handmade with very thin walls and often had unique wishbone-shaped handles as seen here. These pieces proved quite popular in ancient Cyprus and beyond, and have been found at ancient sites throughout the surrounding region.
Other than shades of red and brown, Ware bowls were adorned with simple relief lines on the bowl’s body. The bowl widens to the top where it pinches out and then back in for a nice decoration near the mouth.
