This elaborately embossed bronze quiver with a slightly arched surface is with repoussé scenes of animals, notably fighting pairs of lions and ibexes, and mythological creatures. In interpreting its complex iconography scholars have usually taken for granted that it illustrates the theology either of Mesopotamians, sometimes specifically the Kassites (Godard Lancaster), pre-Zoroastrian Iranians or Indo-Aryans. This quiver provides a microcosm of the iconography used by the Elamite bronze-smith.
The commanding size, intricacy of relief and fine workmanship most likely suggest this quiver would have been reserved for a tribal or military leader or a member of the warrior class.
