Two Tone Glass Perfume Bottle

Description
Description

The wide flaring neck of this two-toned perfume bottle acted as a funnel for the precious unguents within to waft up and out into the bedchambers of some ancient Roman citizen. The bottle’s ghostlike color is offset by the cobalt decorations on its lower body where a cold ring of blue hovers above an equally cool—if not frenetic—series of raised glass zigzags.

This remarkable piece dates from approximately 300 C.E. – 400 C.E., when Rome’s empire had begun to crumble amid the over-expansion and ambitions of its rulers. Restored to reveal its original luster.
